What is septal perforation?
A septal perforation is a hole in the wall dividing the nasal cavity, often causing whistling sounds, bleeding, crusting and irregular breathing.
Repair is planned according to perforation size and location.
Surgical approach
Mucosal flaps and, where required, grafts (commonly auricular or costal cartilage) are used to close the perforation on both sides.
Frequently asked questions
- Can every perforation be repaired?
- Very large perforations have a lower success rate; each case is evaluated in detail.
