What is otoplasty?
Otoplasty is a surgical procedure that repositions ears that appear prominent due to the shape, angle or size of the cartilage.
It can be performed from the age of 6 in children, with no upper age limit in adults.
Why is it preferred during childhood?
Ear development is largely complete by the age of 6. Surgery from this age is technically straightforward and helps prevent psychosocial concerns during school years.
Recovery
A bandage or headband supports the ears during the first week. From the second week, most patients return to normal life.
Sports and activities that put pressure on the ears should be avoided for 3–4 weeks.
Frequently asked questions

- The incision is hidden behind the ear and is not visible from the outside.
- From what age is it performed in children?
- Generally from age 6 onwards, after the ear has completed most of its growth.
